Super Simple Posting
24 commentsBy now we've all probably seen, read, or use Tumblr. The people that designed that app put a lot of great thought into the usability of their site and bringing design and functionality together. I like the quickness and ease of use, which is why I wanted my "Super Simple CMS" to model those same attributes.
Basically I wanted to start with the simple stuff. That's right I would like my own CMS to be as simple at Tumblr and Twitter. Actually what I want to do is make it easy enough where I could tell someone to post an entry in less than five steps. But in order to do that I need to start slow, and add features as they come along.
So here is the plan for "Super Simple".
- Develop my model for text posts. Then move on to pictures, quotes, etc...
- Make sure that posting is done easily through the default Django admin
- Skin my admin page to make it more "Tumblr" ready. Meaning a separate admin for less Django admin types.
- Take Over The World
- Wake Up! HA
So there you have it. I think the steps are fairly easy, and it lends itself to rapid development and a whole bunch of learning along the way. Really what I want to do is put the knowledge I've learned in developing and using other CMSs' and define a product that's easier to use and fully distributable. And to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of PHP and have a hard time ready other developers code.
So here is the start to "Super Simple CMS", please feel free to comment and contribute along the way. I'm not off to create my model.
