It's Time for a Project Section

As I said in my earlier post, I really need to create a section on this site dedicated to projects. I'm constantly asked for my portfolio, and I can't think of a better way to display my work than to create a "projects" section to the website. As I think about such a section, there is a ton of things that need to be accounted for.

For instance, how much meta data do you really need? Probably not that much. I would probably be easy enough just to have a title and textarea for entering information. Since I use filebrowser in my textarea with tinymce, it would make formatting the text pretty easy.

Thinking about this further, there really isn't much to this app at all. Here are some of the things that I'm thinking of.

• Title - This will most likely be the website name or company name, something like that
• Description - This field should pretty much be the body of work. Since I'm using filebrowser, I have the ability to upload images (files) and use them inside the body. This will allow me to put screenshots into the descriptions.
• Thumbnail - Probably an optional piece, but I thought it would be a nice element to add to the front of the website. Kinda like how advertising is done currently, but with an actual picture or logo of the project.
• Related Links - This probably needs to be thought about a little more, but there is good reason to have this section, however it could probably be just as easily put into the main description field.
• Normal Metadata - Of course the same old keywords, description, blah blah blah. You know the SEO kinda stuff.
• Current Identifier - there has to be some way to identify what the current project is, and of course there could be more than one. Not sure at this point if it's a flag, or if it's something that is built like a different index, but there needs to be a way to flag which projects are currently under way.

That kinda covers it for the main parts. I'm sure like everything else it will be a work in progress, but the main point is that there will at least be a section to show off my work. It will also eliminate the need for me to keep sending individual documents to customers, it's like one stop shopping.
