I Want to Build Your Website

Making Things Fresh
The last few weeks have been extremely busy. I appears as though everyone needs something as the end of the year draws near. Luckly for me, I love what I do and hearing from less active customers about new work is a lot of fun.
One of my very first customers was a private label company that is now looking to redo the whole customer interface to their website. Meaning, they don't like the way the website looks and they want to revamp the whole deal. This is one of those projects that I like but it stings a little bit at the same time. You see, I was the original designer on this project, and now they are telling me that my design has outlived it's usefulness and that I need to come up with something different.
Well actually what they are saying is that, we have changed our identiy a little bit, and come out with completely new products and we need a look and feel that compliments these new designs. Ok, fair enough, I'll give you that and raise you that I've also come a long way as a designer and have some fresh ideas for you.
So now the brief has grown too:
- New identity (logo and style)
- New philosophy on how they are going to connect to customers
- Different target market
- Offer the old, but push the new (I'll explain this more later)
- Reuse the same CMS, just enhance it a little
- Create users for the website, make the site more social
All of these make sense right? Well of course they do, they encompass everything a web designer is suppose to do for a client. We are the ones that bring the fun and excitement to the client. If you didn't then they probably wouldn't have hired you.
So, like everything else I put on here, over the next few weeks I'll demonstrate what I did to do the "Website Makeover". Sorry I couldn't come up with a better term since we are just giving it a face lift. We are looking at a redesign of the logo, a new color scheme and a totally new navigation. This should be a lot of fun and hopefully a good case study on how to gain more attention for a brand that once had attention. We are going to bring them back to he promise land. I promise!
