Lets Debate This

Finally it's time for something fun. From time to time I get in those friendly arguments with my friends about which of two things are better. You know, Bud Lights better than Coors Light, or Superman could kick the crap out of Spider-man. Whether or not any of this is true, really isn't the point, it's the debate that ensues that generally makes for a good laugh and a heck of an interesting night.

So I thought to myself, why not create a site for me and my friends to post the pieces we feel are debatable. That's right, put our little friendly debates online and see if others agree with us or not. With the power of Django behind us, it really shouldn't be that hard at all. In fact we should have a working example up fairly soon.

I'm looking at this site kinda like the TV show on Spike called "Deadliest Warrior". If you haven't seen it, it's a show that pits two types of warriors against each other, and then by looking at weapons and fighting style, "experts" determine who the winner might be between the two warriors. Whether one agrees with the outcome or not really doesn't matter, it's the build up and seeing all the weapons and how they are used that really entertains you. So I want this site to be kinda like that. Maybe a bit of voting, a lot of comments and even more user participation.

Ultimately its the end user that really matters, so this site needs to keep the user in mind at all times. At first it's going to be myself and some friends uploading the initial content, but eventually we'll want anyone and everyone to contribute.

Right now this is a fun project with a lot of usefulness outside of just debating amongst friends. For those of you following along at home you can of course watch the progress here, and at the live site.
