I Want to Build Your Website

I feel like a bad host
It feels like it's been forever that I've been here and communicated with you about the projects I'm working on. I even got an email asking "Have you Quit?". No No, quite the opposite actually. I've been so busy that it's hard to find any free time outside of projects and family to dedicate to writing. However, tonight I was able to find that time and jot a few notes down.
So here's an update on how a few of my latest projects are going.
First lets start with the big stuff. You know the stuff that takes at least half of my day to work on.
News CMS
This has been the big dog for me. Lots of features and in the end it will be a fully featured CMS that just about any small to medium size company will be able to use to effectively put together a news related website. Build on Django, this CMS and website is completely focused on the end user, meaning the external viewer to the admin creating the content. This has been a dream client and probably one of the most fun projects I've ever worked on.
Plain Wrap Tees
Ok, so this is a bit of fun, but it's totally working and available. I wanted to prove to myself and a some friends that I could get a simple CMS up and running, in only a day. Not only did I succeed in that area, I also was able to style the customer facing page and integrate it with Paypal. Now I know the whole Paypal integration isn't that tough, but the fact that I was able to start with zero and get a fully functional site up and running, is pretty impressive. This site is co-owned by a friend of mine, and it isn't techincally live, but it has been fun and I think the idea is great. If you want to see a simple Django site, this is it. http://www.plainwraptees.com
Great Debate (www.g8debate.com)
This project got started, but is still sitting there. It's one of those fun projects that I haven't been able to invest a lot of time into. At it's most basic core it's going to be simple. Two subjects up against each other and visitors to the site decide which side wins. Once I get some of my paying customers wrapped up, I'll move back to this. But for right now, this one is being put on the back burner.
Work Life Hell
Yes this is exactly what it sounds like. It's a new project but has tons of potential. Basically it's a site that allows people to complain (read: bitch about) the company or more precisely, their boss. The idea behind this came to a bunch of us when I was creating a short comic for one of my friends. Basically I following him on twitter, and couldn't help but notice he was always posting things about collegues he though were less than intelligent. So I decided to take that and run with it. Not only has it been fun, but it took me back to a time when I was very comfortable sitting at my table running designs across my desk. Yes at one time I would doodle cartoons for fun. I'm still doing that but posting them online at this website. The full version isn't baked yet, but it will be shortly. I'll update this blog when it's ready to go.
That should just about cover it. Yes I'm alive and NO I haven't stopped designing and using Django. I'm extremely happy with the current changes that have been put in place and I can't wait to watch it's development. Thank you Django contributors for making my life a lot better.
