10Beans Almost Ready
I've been spending some time on 10Beans.com this week and it's almost to the point where we could actually have shoppers. A few more updates to the templates and the creation of some static content, and we are in shape. I also think I need to add a shopping cart, which at this point will probably be paypal.
Luckily there are many considerations when it comes to shopping carts. For me on a simple site, it boiled down to Paypal or Google Checkeout. Both are pretty good, however the advantage to using Paypal, is that the shopper doesn't need a Google account in order to use it. Checkout still seems a bit limited, so I'm going to stick with the internet standard of Paypal.
So as it stands right now, T-Shirts on the site can actually be purchased. That means that the CMS for the website is functioning and the integration with our payment method also functioning. All of this is a great start, however we are far from complete. There are some elements of the website that don't really appeal to me yet.
The first of these unsightly elements is the top navigation. So far I just have a logo and some text for links. Not really the pop I wanted from a site that's suppose to be cool and hip. So I'm going to need to add some zip to that top part, and that's got to be the next thing that I work on.
