Doing Something New

Have you ever read the book "Who moved my cheese"? Well if you haven't you should, it's a wonderful read and it's quick. I think I've read it over a cup of coffee and have loaned it out countless times. It isn't the book itself that I write about today, it's the message, and that message is DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

I've been doing something different most of my life. It's been said that I dance to the beat of a different drummer. I don't know exactly what that beat is, I just know it's different. Eventually everyone else catches up with you and being different becomes much harder, because if your just different enough, people will follow you. Since being different is something new, I've decided to reinvent myself once again and start to concentrate on a new line of business.

Share More

I know it's been a while since I contributed to my own little slice of the world here, but it's been for good reason. I've been hard at work trying to get a bunch of sites live, and promoting them online takes time.

Tee Shirt Nut Up and Running

A few months back I talked about the side project site where I could display my {love} for T-Shirts. Well it's finally finished, but if the frequency with which I blog here is any indication, I don't expect to be burning up the internet with content. Simply put, I got the design and the structure exactly how I wanted it. There might be a few tweaks here and there (I'm not exactly happy with the header), but it's up functioning and ready for content.

Why I Love This

Today I saw an interesting tweet about winning an iPod Nano. No it wasn't the Nano that grabbed my attention, it was the "Are you a freelancer?" question. Being a freelancer is something thats new to me, but it also something that I'm very proud of. I'm sure you've heard countless stories about people quitting their day job and escaping the 9 to 5 to enjoy more time with their families and activities that are more enjoyable. Well, I don't have the same story. Actually, not even close.

I actually left my "Day Job" because I wanted to do more. Sounds crazy doesn't it? The truth of the matter was that I worked for a large company that had great benefits, wonderful teammates, and a flexible schedule where I worked from home. Surely you think I'm crazy for leaving, and I trust me I questioned myself many times, but the burning desire to do more was always there.

Finding Work

I get asked a lot on how I find work. To be honest, I don't so much as find work, but work finds me. You see I believe that the best way to get a lead is by producing quality products and projects that allow a customer to share their experience with others in the industry.

It's nice to get referrals, but in order to get referrals you need to have a lot of things in order.
